lay, lieberman, lay

whoa, so lieberman was booed at a state party dinner yesterday. obviously not by the entire room, but enough that he had to stop his speech a few times and quiet the audience down so he could continue. i have to say, i am no fan of lieberman, but i think it's a bit hypocritical to be lunging at him with our liberal fangs in full view, when his so-called transgressions are not necessarily worse than some others (see: feinstein, who has been doing "dirty deeds" since she was mayor of san francisco, or even our beloved hillary clinton, and a slew of others). would i like to see lieberman replaced with a senator who at least will not accept a kiss from GW? yes, but let's not say it's solely based upon his voting record. i really think it comes off as a personality conflict, namely: he's a pompous arse. if we want a democratic senator with a pure record, we're going to be looking for a long time. what we really need to do is stop with the idolization of elected officials, and start realizing that no one is going to be perfect, but we can find candidates that are going to be strong, who uphold the basic principles, and who can convince the public to not give in all the time to the basic greed and evilness found in human nature. does this mean that the elected official is never going to be greedy or evil? no, because we can't expect the average person to never be greedy or evil. we can ask the the average person not accept a kiss from GW, however.
in this salon article lieberman says that he is upset that so many democrats hate GW in much the same manner that so many republicans hate bill clinton....but, joe, formerly of the joe-mentum campaign, you don't change people's minds by publicly cozying up the the individual who receives so much of their scorn...channel the anger into campaign activities, inspire them to give money or time to electing people that can change the direction of america. try to unite the far left of the spectrum with the more moderate individuals. and quit acting so pompous all the time.

at any rate, i'm hoping lamont can pull it off. sorry, joe.
