crushing debt

for what could be considered obvious reasons, student debt has been weighing on my mind fairly heavily. what is the advanced degree worth? granted i would be able to get into more specialized job descriptions than what i have now, but it seems like, at least initially, the pay would not be significantly more than what i am making now. obviously i want the advanced degree, if only for my own piece of mind, but also because of the knowledge it will give me...and hopefully it will give me a return on my eventual repayment which will include paying almost twice as much back as i borrowed. cnn has a great article about student loan debt and how people in my generation are just basically fucked. and you know how it goes...the rich keep getting richer, etc ad nauseum.
