um, lame

so, is it universally recognized that when an individual reaches a certain age they decide to sequester themselves within their own little world which may or may not include a significant other and shun the rest of the world save for a few occasions per year?

perhaps this is the point in my life when i should have a stressful job which requires me to be occupied for 60+ hours a week and then i wouldn't realize how freaking lonely it can be sometimes.

being that i am a social animal who craves to be out and about with other people having fun and interacting, i am finding it very difficult to manage with only four actual friends here (friends being defined as people i can actually call up to query whether or not they are interested in interacting on a given evening). and also? the friends that i have chosen are either so reclusive that they hardly ever have desire to hang out or they have a bajillion other people to hang out with that i am too far down on the list to really have any meaning. le sigh.

i am also just being a baby right now, but there is truth in what i wrote. the sad thing is that i think things would be more or less the same as if i had returned to boise, because my friendgroup there has fragmented and people have gotten older and seemed to mesh into their own activities and couples and probably wouldn't be as available anyway.

so getting older = becoming unavailable. and i somehow missed that memo.
